Victoria "Vicky" Howe, age 97, of Sioux Falls, formerly of the Renner/Baltic area, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, Baltic. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to East Nidaros or Willow Creek Cemeteries.

Vicky (Krogstad) Howe was born on September 15, 1926, on a farm near Dell Rapids to Oscar & Agnes (Steen) Krogstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Willow Creek Lutheran Church. She attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Lyons High School. She then attended Nettleton School and worked at Tri-State Electric until her marriage.

On May 25, 1948, she married Duane Howe at Willow Creek Lutheran Church. Their first home was a basement apartment in a one-room schoolhouse near Crooks. They had three children, Don, Verla, and Dennis. Vicky and Duane farmed near Crooks until 1959 and then moved to a farm near Baltic. In 1989 they moved to an acreage by Renner. Duane died in 1989. Vicky married Greg Clercx in 1995. He died in 2006. After living in the country for 92 years, she moved to the Inn on Westport in Sioux Falls in 2018.

Vicky was an active member of East Nidaros Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday and Bible school and attended ladies aid. She was a member of the extension club and the Sons of Norway. Vicky was known for her homemade caramel rolls. She loved to entertain family and friends. Her hobbies included hardanger, oil and water painting, knitting, crocheting, quilting, dancing, and gardening. She loved the outdoors and kept busy with flowers, gardens, travel, and picnics.

Vicky is survived by her children: Don (Linda) Howe, Lincoln NE and Dennis (Barb) Howe, Sioux Falls; son-in-law, Darrell Borgen, Hartford; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Adrian Krogstad, Dell Rapids and Glen (Carol) Krogstad, Colton; sisters, Doris (Arne) Brown, Brookings, and Margaret Tidemann, Baltic; sisters-in-law, Charlynn Krogstad, Spearfish and Doris Krogstad, Baltic; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Duane and Greg; daughter, Verla Borgen; sister, Madeline Winterton; and brothers, Alan, Richard, and Ordell.
