Terry Allan Tommeraasen

Terry Allan Tommeraasen, age 71, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls surrounded by his wife and children. Public funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Baltic Lutheran Church, Baltic. Public visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Terry, the 2 ^nd child of Allan and Rose (Baker) Tommeraasen, was born on April 14, 1949 in Sioux Falls and was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. He grew up south of Renner and attended the Evergreen School Dist 18. The family moved to an acreage south of Baltic in 1964 and Terry graduated from Baltic High School in 1967. Shortly after he graduated, Terry began his employment with John Morrell and Company. He was a very dedicated employee and once achieved over 20 years of perfect attendance. He retired from management at Morrells after over 40 years of service.

Terry was inducted into the United States Army on March 11, 1969. He served overseas in Germany for one year and was honorably discharged on March 3, 1971. On September 1, 1973, he married Joan Knutson at Baltic Lutheran Church. They built a home next to his parents on the Tommeraasen acreage and lived there until moving to Dell Rapids in 2003.

Terry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. He greatly enjoyed the Tommeraasen fishing trips to places like Rush Lake, Minnesota, Missouri River, and Pelican Lake near Brainerd, Minnesota. He loved to tinker in his garage and could fix about anything. He had many skills, and everything was always done with excellence. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and especially his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Joan, Dell Rapids; children: Melissa (Jeff) France, Phoenix, AZ, and Troy (Gretchen) Tommeraasen, Tyler, MN; grandchildren: Marissa and Jackson France, and Morgan and Levi Tommeraasen;  siblings, Alana Tommeraasen, Baltic, Dale (Jerilyn) Tommeraasen, Brandon, Anita (Scott) Getz, Dell Rapids, Kenny (Wanda) Tommeraasen, Sioux Falls, and Kevin (Tami) Tommeraasen, Lake Norden; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Rose Tommeraasen; brothers, Larry and James; nieces, Amy Tommeraasen, Baby Girl Tommeraasen, Jayda and Jana Tommeraasen, and nephew, Douglas Tommeraasen.
