Shirley Aileen Larson

Shirley Aileen Larson, 86, of Crooks, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls. Public funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Monday, December 14, 2020, at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Masks are required in the church. The service will be live streamed at the Minnehaha Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook Page . Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Shirley was born on November 26, 1934 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Isaac and Gladys (Benson) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at Benton Lutheran Church near Crooks and remained a member there all her life. She attended grade school in Crooks and graduated from Lyons High School.

Shirley began her bookkeeping career at the E.J. Gustafson Company in Sioux Falls, a wholesale appliance company. When that company became a factory branch, she started working at the Westward Ho Country Club as office manager and remained there for 18 years. She then volunteered and did some part time office work for Lutheran Social Services for 10 years. She was also a member of the Bethany Lutheran Home Auxiliary for several years.

Shirley was treasurer of Benton Township for seven years and treasurer for Benton Lutheran Church for 22 years. She enjoyed working with the church WELCA group making pies and quilts.

She is survived by her beloved cousins, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
