Ronald Lee Johnson

Ronald L. Johnson, age 73, of rural Hartford, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday, at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Benton Lutheran Cemetery.

Ronald was born on December 25, 1945 to Eldon and Joyce (Nelson) Johnson in Sioux Falls. He grew up and spent his entire life on the family farm. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1963 and continued farming with his dad. He was an active 5th generation member of Benton Lutheran Church near Crooks. He was involved in the South Dakota Charolais Association, Minnehaha Conservation District, Minnehaha Cattleman’s Association, and was an active member of the Benton Township Board.

Ronald is survived by his two sisters, and their husbands: Rhonda and Greg Lofstedt, Ames, Iowa; Julaine and Ron Duimstra, Grimes, Iowa; eight nieces and nephews: Angela Graham, Castle Pines, CO, Amber (Pasha Voronetskyi) Duimstra, Des Moines, IA, Ashlee (Taylor Evans) Duimstra, West Des Moines, IA, Amy (Steve) Gusky, Vienna, VA, Brooks (Alesha) Lofstedt, Ames, IA, Prentice (Jamie) Lofstedt, Iowa Falls, IA, Lindsey (Nick) Snyder, Papillion, NE, and Brent (Nichole) Lofstedt Waterloo, IA; nine great nieces and nephews, August and Peter Graham, Castle Pines, CO, Oliver and Claire Gusky, Vienna, VA, Wilson, Macy, and Griffin Lofstedt, Ames, IA, Joie Lofstedt, Iowa Falls, IA, Adela Snyder, Papillion, NE; and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon in 2009, and mother, Joyce in 2014.
