Ronald "Barney" Bernards

Ronald E. "Barney" Bernards of Crooks, SD, passed away December 8, 2020 after a two month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born April 5th, 1956 in Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated from Washington High School in 1974, and married the love of his life, Judy Campbell, February 14, 1976 in Brandon, SD. His family called him Ron, most others knew him as Barney.

During their almost 45 years of marriage, they had two daughters, Kaycee and Stevie, and a son, Brady. Barney and Judy always made sure to take time for each other with golfing vacations as a couple, as well as with friends. He was a wonderful friend, but mostly a dedicated husband, father and grandfather

Barney worked over 25 years for Sturdevant's Auto, Refinish Supply Center in Sioux Falls. He was a die hard Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed bowling, and was an avid golfer...playing every chance he got.

Grateful for having shared his life are his beloved wife, Judy, of Crooks, his children Kaycee Bernards of Sioux Falls, Stephanie (Steve) Ver Maas of Sioux Falls, and Brady Bernards (Jessi) of Denver, CO ,his two beautiful granddaughters Madison (11) and Remy (2), as well as his mother, Marlyce Bernards and his siblings: Randy, Roger, Robin and Renee.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and brothers Robert and Richard.

Private family services will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. The service will be live streamed at the Minnehaha Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook Page . Public burial will follow at 1:45 PM in the church cemetery. Masks are required.
