Ron “Goudy” Eitreim, age 67, Garretson, passed away happily with a fishing rod in his hand on Monday, September 11, 2017, at Lake Brant. Memorial visitation will be from 2-4:00 PM Sunday, September, 17, 2017, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson, with a time of sharing at 3:30 PM and Military Honors at 4:00 PM.

Ron was born on February 25, 1950, in Sioux Falls, to Lloyd and Henrietta Ann (Fix) Eitreim. He grew up in the Sioux Falls and Garretson communities and attended school there. After completing time with the Job Corp, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1968. Ron served in Vietnam and Korea as a sentry dog handler. He was honorably discharged in 1971, and then married Barbara Gutzmer.  He worked for the Garretson Elevator and Cal Klein Construction in Sioux Falls. Ron was a member of the Garretson American Legion and greatly enjoyed fishing, scrapping, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children: Bob Eitreim, Sioux Falls, and Heidi Hamer, Elkton; grandchildren: Alissa Van Diepen, Alex Eitreim-Hamer, Jaiden Hamer, Riley Hamer, and Lilliana Foarde; mother, Henrietta Brebner, Garretson; and siblings: Gordon Eitreim, Garretson, Ann Jess, Steen, MN, Rich Brebner, Zion, IL, and Todd Brebner, Pleasonton, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd.
