Roland “Rollie” Bunde, age 86, of Madison, formerly of Lyons, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at First Lutheran Church in Colton. Interment will be in the Minnehaha Cemetery, rural Colton. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton.

Roland Leuquet Bunde was born on Labor Day, September 7, 1931, west of Sioux Falls, to Gehardt Melvin and Mabel J. (Hanson) Bunde. He grew up on a farm west of Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School in 1949. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, Rollie began working at John Morrell & Co. in Sioux Falls and helped on the family farm.

Rollie married Annabelle Sinning on June 17, 1960 in Lennox. They lived in Sioux Falls before moving to Lyons. In September of 2013, they moved to Madison. Annabelle passed away on December 4, 2014. Rollie enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tinkering. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Colton.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Baasch, Madison; sister, Audrey (Larry) Poppens, Chancellor; sister-in-law, Marlene Bunde, Sioux Falls; brother-in-law, Don (Marlene) Sinning, Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annabelle; son-in-law, Dale Baasch; and siblings, Lila Grotjohn, Gerald Bunde, and David Bunde.
