Ricky Allen Austin

Ricky Allen Austin, age 71, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Monday, September 13, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Ricky was born on January 2, 1950, in Flandreau, South Dakota, to Robert Sr. and Adeline (Rentschler) Austin. He grew up in Colman and then moved to Garretson where he received his education. In 1968 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the aircraft carrier, USS Bennington. He was honorably discharged in 1969. On February 14, 1970, he married Pat Ranschau. He lived in Jasper, Luverne, and Sioux Falls until being injured in an automobile accident in 1975. Following his accident, he resided at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Ricky enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and hunting before his accident. He also enjoyed playing bingo, drinking Diet Pepsi and coffee, and his cigarettes.

Survivors include his children: Pam (Mark) Olson, and John Austin; grandchildren: Jordan (Steph Branson) Olson and their children Nora, Avalon, Milo, and Veda; Jasmine Olson; Daniel (Maggie) Olson and their children Bryn Leigh and Cameron; Kristine (Brady) Johnson and their children Carson and Kooper; Sierra Erickson and her daughter Avery; Jason Hofer and his child Jaxon; Jordyn Hofer; Jesse James Austin; and Kelsey Jenson and her son Mason; and a sister, Renae Asfeha; nieces and nephews: Christine, Cassandra, Trey, Staci, Aaron, Joseph, and Bobby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Adeline Austin; and brothers: Robert Jr., Charles “Charlie”, Kevin, and Jody.
