Nanette Jean Hulscher, age 47, of Brandon, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, January 8, 2018, at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Garretson. Visitation will be from 3-5:00 PM Sunday, at the church, with a Prayer Service and Rosary beginning at 5:00 PM.
Nanette was born on March 20, 1970, in Sioux Falls, to Thomas and Margaret (Leneghan) Peschong. She grew up in Greece, Belgium, and San Francisco. She began her schooling in San Rafael, California. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1988 and Mitchell Technical Institute in 1994. She worked as a lab technician at Sanford Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa.
Nanette loved photography, crafts, hiking, and kayaking but most of all, she loved her children. In recent years, she embraced her adventurous side by racing dune buggies in the desert, deep sea sport fishing, and even skydiving. Nanette was always up for a new adventure. She’d often be found on nice days hiking with her children in Palisades State Park.
Nanette loved to travel and was able to see a large portion of the world with her parents and later in one of her first jobs as a cruise ship disc jockey. Her eyes would sparkle when she’d tell stories of her and Andy’s Mexico vacations or the stories about corralling five young children through the streets of London while visiting her beloved Uncle Eddie.
Nanette’s compassion led her into the medical field. She chose to drive over an hour to work in both Westbrook, MN and Sheldon, IA so she could work in small community hospitals to personally get to know and engage with her patients.
Without attracting any attention to herself, Nanette was famous for stopping to care for the downtrodden. Andy recalls how concerned he’d become when she drove all the way to Mission for work while pregnant with Mathew making stops along the way to help anyone with money and clothes.
Summing Nanette’s life up in a few sentences would an injustice to her, and her memory. She was a forgiving mother, a caring daughter, and a loving person to whoever crossed paths with her. Her heart was one of gold and we will forever cherish the life changing memories that everyone shared with her. Rest in peace Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Life Partner, and Friend. We will forever miss you.
Survivors include her partner, Dave Wells, Brandon; children: Ashley Hulscher, Sioux Falls, Matt, Molly, Amber, and Adam, and their father, Andy Hulscher, all of Garretson; mother, Margaret Peschong, Sioux Falls; and brother, Andre Peschong, Newport Beach, California.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Peschong; sister, Patti Wells; and uncles, Eddie and John Leneghan.
