Marylee LeBrun Bennett was born on April 30, 1949, in Chester, South Dakota to Ernest and Ivona (Willard) LeBrun. Marylee LeBrun Bennett passed away on July 8, 2024, at her home in Lewisville, Texas. She grew up in Colton, South Dakota where she was joined by her brother Willard (Billy) LeBrun in 1954. Marylee graduated from Mount Marty High School in Yankton, South Dakota in 1967.
Following graduation she lived in Indiana, working in restaurant management and also a seamstress for Levi Strauss in South Dakota. She was married in June 1976. In 1977, Marylee welcomed her first daughter Amy Ivona, followed shortly by sister Dana Lee in 1978. In 1980, she moved to Honey Creek, Iowa where she lived for 37 years. Marylee was a stay-at-home mom until the late 1980’s when she obtained her degree from Buena Vista University with major in Finance with emphasis in economics, minored in Insurance, and received a certificate as an Ophthalmic Optician. She retired from Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates in 2015 after having worked in medical billing in and around the Omaha, Nebraska area for several years. She moved to Lewisville, Texas in 2017.
Marylee was well loved by family and friends. She absolutely loved being a mom and grandma. Hobbies included sewing, reading books, baking, and canning. She loved talking to friends and relatives on the phone and was very active with anything associated with her daughters and two grandsons. She was passionate about staying in touch with all her family and friends, near and far. Marylee never met a stranger; she had a knack for making friends wherever she went. She had a huge smile, and very big, contagious laugh, not easily forgotten.
She is survived by her daughters, Amy (James) Lariviere of Minden, Iowa, and Dana (Ryan Burns) Bennett of Lewisville, Texas, grandsons Morgan and Brooks Andersen, of Minden, Iowa and many cousins.
Marylee was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, and son-in-law Andy Haskell.
