Mary E. Schroeder 77 of Dell Rapids SD died at 4:20pm Monday, October 19, 2020 at Palisades Healthcare in Garretson SD

Mary was born November 21, 1942 in Lehigh Iowa to Mildred Young and Roger Shelton Smith.

Married twice, Mary was blessed with 6 children, 20  grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mary was employed as a nurses aid at Chester Memorial Hospital in Chester Illinois for a time, and

Gilster Mary Lee in Chester Illinois.

She retired to raise her family and later resided in Nebraska and South Dakota.

A loving mother and grandmother, Mary loved fishing, being in nature, waterfalls and crafting.  She lived life with country music in the air and loved to dance.   She had a sense of humor that would leave you shocked and awed, but always laughing.  She was known for her smile and charm and the twinkle in her eye.  Kind at heart, she never knew a stranger.  She loved her family dearly, each and every one.

Mary is survived by children Jeff Schroeder (Tammy) of Anna Illinois.  Diana Anderson of Indiana. Toni (Mike) Straight of Rockwood Illinois.  Tracy Butler of Huntington Beach California.  Laura (Paul) Alderman of Baltic South Dakota.  Pamela Schroeder of Jacob Illinois.  Grandchildren, Brittany Schroeder, Alexia Schroeder, River Cussman, Tori Schroeder, Liam Schroeder, Mika (Melissa) Straight, Marshall (Ashley) Straight, Candace Moore, David Moore, Billy Butler, Daniel Butler, Levi Qualls, Storm Qualls, Amber Gott, Teran (Steve) Nieces, Jacob Price, Johnny Price, Bobby (Brittany) Price, Dakota (Alexia) Price.  Great grandchildren, Mikayla, Mason, June, Gigi, Hannah, Reagan, Mia, Ayden, Aceyn, Jakob, Colby, Nova Austin and Elijah

Mary was survived by her sisters Lenore Page of Farnhamville Iowa, Marilyn McCubbin of Fort Dodge Iowa, Patricia Young and brothers Roger Shelton Smith Jr. and Danny Smith of Lehigh Iowa.

She preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Florence Johnson, Gladys Wilcox, Betty Johnson, and brothers, Albert “Sonny” Young, James “Tiny” Young, Kenny Smith, Sam Smith, and Jim Smith.

Sweet as Molasses and sharp as a tack, she was our Mother, loved and missed, but never forgotten.

On silver wings of grace and love she flys free with our unending love.
