Mark James Sponheim

Mark James Sponheim, 73, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday August 3, 2023, at Jasper City Cemetery with refreshments to follow at the Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jasper, Minnesota.
Mark was born November 18, 1949 to Gordon and Irene Sponheim. He grew up on a farm by Baltic. He attended and graduated from Baltic High School in 1968. After graduating, he became a member of the Air National Guard and served for two years. Mark worked many years in the construction field in South Dakota and other surrounding areas. Mark enjoyed shooting trap, hunting, fishing, playing cards and was a member of the Renner Fire Department for many years.
Survivors include his mother, Irene Sponheim of Aberdeen, SD; sister, Gayle Nelson of Aberdeen, SD; and nephew, Jarad Nelson of Aberdeen, SD.
He was preceded in death by his father, sister and brother-in-law, Dean Nelson.
