Lynwood L. Ellens, age 75, of Hartford, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Saturday May 12, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm, Friday May 11th at the church.

Lyn was born on April 9, 1943 in Sioux Falls,SD to Leonard and Lorna (Heiden) Ellens.He was raised and received his education in Hartford, SD. On September 26th, 1964, he married Janice Hanson at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks.

He was employed at John Morrell now known as Ryder for 41 years. He retired in 2007. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hartford, SD

Lyn had a deep love for his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and making anything his daughters asked him to design and build.

Lyn is survived by his wife, Janice of Hartford; children Kris (Darren) Lammers, Chancellor, Jeff Ellens, Colton; Brenda (Jarad) Deters, Colton; his siblings, Lynda (Terry) Boxdorfer, Sioux Falls, SD, LaVonne (Louie) Archuletta, Colorado Springs, CO; Marlene (Joe) Elko, Humboldt, SD; Marileen (Greg) Yoe, Hamburg, PA, Marge Boley, Arlington, AZ, Maureen (Pat) Gunderson, Lakeway, TX; Norma (Steve)  Bannwarth,  Humboldt, SD; Audrey Hewitt, Commerce City, CO; Lenny (Shirley) Ellens, Hartford; SD; Jolene (Jim) Thomas, Sioux Falls, SD; Jerry Ellens, Phillip, SD, his brother-in-law Orlen Hanson, Springfield, SD and sisters-in-law Doreen (Lee) Butenschoen, Sioux Falls, SD, Candi Hanson, Sioux Falls, SD; Julie Hanson, Sioux Falls, SD and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in law, Orwell and Inez Hanson, brothers-in-law Ordel Hanson, Orrell Hanson, Darrell Hanson and Marlon Hanson.
