Lois J. Moe, age 86, of Great Falls, Montana, formerly of Crooks/Renner area, died on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Park Place Health Care Center in Great Falls. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 PM Saturday, August 31, 2019, at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.

Lois Jean Arneson was born on a farm in rural Montrose, South Dakota on January 3, 1933, to Bernard and Gladys (Messex) Arneson. She graduated from Washington High School and attended Clover Park Vo-Tech in Tacoma, Washington.

On January 31, 1951, Lois married James M. Moe in Biloxi, Mississippi. During her husband’s career in the Air Force they traveled throughout the United States, as well as Japan and Canada. They were blessed with two sons, Larry and James. While Stationed at Tacoma she became an offset printer and was employed at Pacific Lutheran University. They returned to South Dakota after retirement and lived on a farm in rural Renner while Lois worked as the church secretary at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. She also served as visitation coordinator at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Great Falls.

Lois learned oil painting in California and later found rosemaling as a hobby and business in Montana while she served as Cultural Director as the Son’s of Norway. In addition to rosemaling she enjoyed music. She was a member of West Nidaros Lutheran Church, Son’s of Norway, Western Rosemalers Association, Vesterheim, U.O.A., American Legion Auxiliary, and the DAV Auxiliary.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Larry Moe, Sioux Falls; Jimmy Moe and his wife Janice, Great Falls, MT; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Gladys; husband, James on February 28, 2010; siblings: Louise Cronn, Merle Arneson, and Daryl Arneson.
