Ladonna Mae Swier

LaDonna Swier, age 88, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Colton, passed away on November 5, 2023, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Monday, November 13, 2023, at the Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton. Interment will follow at the Colton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.

LaDonna was born on September 16, 1935, in Sioux Falls, SD, to John and Martha (Fods) Ostraat. She grew up on the family farm near Chester and graduated from Chester High School. LaDonna married John E. Swier on February 9, 1954, in Colton, SD. The couple farmed near Colton. After John’s death on April 24, 1982, LaDonna moved to Sioux Falls where she worked for Sears and McKennan Hospital and enjoyed going to garage sales.

Grateful for having shared her life are three sons: Bradley (Mary) Swier, Sioux Falls, Jeffery (Deb) Swier, Shakopee, MN, Mike (Kathy) Swier, Hartford, SD; daughter, Wanda (Larry) Vanderlinde, Cologne, MN; ten grandchildren; and multiple great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis (Donna) Ostraat.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, John & Martha Ostraat; sister, Darla Aman;  daughter, Vickie Foley; and special friend: Dale Entringer.
