Kent Darin Swier

Kent Darin Swier, age 40, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Colton, died from natural causes on Sunday May 8, 2022, at his home in Sioux Falls.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, at First Lutheran Church in Colton, SD with Rev. Herb Wounded Head III officiating.  Family and friends will gather at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Colton before processing to the cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. burial.

Visitation will be Thursday May 12 ^th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Colton, SD.

In lieu of flowers family wish memorials which will be directed at a later date.

Kent Darin Swier was born August 4, 1981, in Dell Rapids, SD to Roger and Donna (Grinde) Swier.  He was raised in Colton and graduated from Tri Valley High School.  He went on to attend Southeast Technical College where he studied architecture.  Most of his working life he was involved with the building trades in construction.  But he especially enjoyed woodworking and several of his family have special projects he made for them. As of late, he worked at Golden Coin Casino.

His family and friends were most important to him, and he loved spending time with them.  He was always there to lend a helping hand.

Kent is survived by his mother, Donna Swier of Colton; brother, Mark (Melissa) Swier of Canton, SD; two nephews, Austin (Kallie Poppema) Swier of Parkston, SD and their son, Michael, and Darin Swier of Canton; aunts, uncles, and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Swier; paternal grandparents, Walt and Dorothy Swier; and maternal grandparents, Granville and Hazel Grinde; and special friend, Rita Wegner.
