John Edward Kampmeyer, 65, of Baltic passed away peacefully at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell.
Due to current health concerns due to COVID-19, John's memorial service will be held at a later date.
John Edward Kampmeyer was born February 5, 1955 to Edward and Sylvia (Brown) Kampmeyer. John was the youngest of the family. He and his five siblings grew up in the Dell Rapids area. He graduated from Dell Rapids High School.
John entered the United States Army after graduation. While serving in Germany, he was certified as a member of the Kitzingen Flying Club. During his time in the army, John also earned his degree as a Power Plant Technician and an Air Frame Technician. John was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1980.
John Attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma and received his degree of Aviation Maintenance Technician.
John loved working on just about anything mechanical. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and riding motorcycles.
Thankful for having shared his life are his siblings, June (Lowell) Van Liere, Hartford; Gary (Arlys) Kampmeyer, Edgerton, MO; Ervin (Cheryl) Kampmeyer, and Barbara Cooke, Lake City Florida and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Sylvia Kampmeyer and sister, Marlene (Malthesen-Meade).
