Jerry Fowlds, 72, of rural Baltic died Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Sioux Falls.
Private family funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks, SD. Service will be livestreamed beginning at 9:55 AM on the Minnehaha Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook Page . Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, rural Baltic, SD. Public visitation will be held Monday November 16, 2020 from 3-7:00 PM in the Family Life Center at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. Masks are required at the visitation.

Jerald Bryant Fowlds, son of Donald & Esther Marian (Peterson) Fowlds, was born on March 23, 1948 in Tyler MN. As a child he moved with his family to Sioux Falls, SD where he grew up and graduated from Washington High School.
Jerry was united in marriage to Deb Vanderlinde on Nov 22, 1968. After the marriage, the couple made their home in Sioux Falls SD and had 2 beautiful children. Jerry had many part time jobs and finally got hired at John Morrell and Co where he stayed for 31 1/2 years.
In 1996, Jerry and Bruce started Dakotaland Transportation, Inc which primarily hauls for Showplace Wood Products and a growing Wind Energy division.
On December 30, 2011, Jerry was united in marriage to Shari (Sluiter) Penning where they made their home on an acreage in rural Baltic.
Jerry was a member of the El Riad Shrine Classie Autos, loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He loved watching the Vikings play and especially couldn't wait for his daily morning banter with his coffee mates at Renner Corner. Jerry was a truly kind hearted individual and because he grew up on the poor side of town he always wanted to help out the less fortunate.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Shari Fowlds of Baltic; son Darin (Dawn) Fowlds of Sioux Falls; daughter Tammy (Eric) Heegel of Aubrey TX; brother-in-law Shane (Becky) Sluiter; son-in-law Joel Heegel, Lewisville TX; nephews: Jackson and Matthew Sluiter; four grandchildren: Bryant, Corwin, Shanda and Cheston; three great grandchildren; brother: Dennis (Kathy) Fowlds of Tea SD; and a sister-in-law: Paula Fowlds, Brigette Fowlds and a host of friends and relatives.
Jerry died alongside his brother Bruce. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother James (Jim).
