Janet Marie (Buus) Bortnem

Janet Marie (Buus) Bortnem, 75, of Dell Rapids passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at Dell Nursing and Rehab Center.
Janet was born on April 28 th 1943 to Henry and Audrey (Ecker) Buus in Bradley, SD. She moved to Watertown, SD with her family and graduated from Watertown High School in 1962. Janet was successful as a legal secretary and later owned a business in the legal and medical transcription services.
Janet married John (Jack) Stone in 1968 and they were blessed with two sons, Jeff and Jason. They made their home in rural Watertown where she was a legal secretary for Osheim, Fox and Bartron Law Firm and Austin, Hinderacker, Hacket and Hopper Law Firm over the years. She later became a medical transcriptionist for Prairie Lakes (St Ann’s) Hospital. Several years later Janet was re-married to Raymond (Joe) Bortnem. They were married at the Renner Lutheran Church in 1998 and made their home in Sioux Falls and Dell Rapids. Janet was a resident at the Dell Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center for several years.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed taking pictures, going dancing and planting beautiful flower arrangements. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved cats.
Janet is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey (Tess) Stone of rural Hartford and Jason (Juanita) Stone of Brooking; six grandchildren and several step children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Audrey Buus; first husband, John (Jack) Stone and second husband, Raymond (Joe) Bortnem.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
