James William Oyen, 83, of Sioux Falls formerly of Crooks died Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls.
As per his wishes no services will be held.
James was born June 7, 1937 in Sioux Falls to parents Allen and Maurine (Peterson) Oyen. He grew up north of Crooks and attended Trobak Country School and graduated from Lyons High School. He then attended USD, Dakota State and then the University of Oklahoma with a MS in Library. After his education he served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1962. James married Lola Ramociotti on February 3, 1973 in New York.
James worked as a Librarian for the Lyons School District in Nevada for 25 years. After his retirement Lola and James moved back to Crooks before moving into Sioux Falls.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lola, Sioux Falls; Lola’s son, Gary Salaices, Nevada; and a granddaughter, Melissa Salaices, Nevada; brother, Robert (Joann) Oyen, Crooks, a brother-in-law, Robert Sandell, New York; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Janet Sandell.
