Glenn “Bud” Grocott, 88, of rural Humboldt died Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Canistota, SD
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at St. Jacobs Lutheran Church, Colton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton.
Bud was born September 24, 1930 in Sioux Falls to parents, Thomas and Lillian (Paulson) Grocott. He grew up in the Humboldt area and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1948. He entered the United States Army on January 23, 1952 and was discharged on August 16, 1953.
Bud married Darlene Hoven June 14, 1951 at Humboldt. They lived in Alaska before returning to the farm near Humboldt. Bud continued to farm his whole life.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Jim Grocott, Sioux Falls, Cathy (Charlie) Gordon, Montrose, Bill (Karen) Grocott, Humboldt, Laurie (Larry) Twedt, Montrose, and Lynn (Lori) Grocott, Montrose, eleven grandchildren, Todd (Emily) Gordon, Jeremy (Beth) Gordon, Troy (Kerrie) Grocott, Eric (Brittany) Grocott, Jeff (Christie) Twedt, Andrew (Trisha) Grocott, Brian Grocott, Stacy (Kent) Donelan, Shawnya (Jeremy) McGregor, Kari (Chris) Katzer, Jessica Grocott, twenty-six great grandchildren, Caitlynn, Tayah, & Dylan McGregor, Logan, Carly, & Brayden Katzer, Connor, Landon, Mason, & Mya Twedt, Jena, Trent, & Abby Gordon, Evie, & Blane Gordon, Aiden, Padraig, Finley, & Brenna Donelan, Tanner, Natalie, Kade, & Wyatt Grocott, Adlie & Kinzey Grocott and Briar Grocott, five siblings, Lois Stofferahn, Dennis Grocott, Gene Grocott, Winston “Mick” (Elena) Grocott and Linda Paulson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Lillian, his wife Darlene, brother, Don “Pete” and sisters, Sally, Betty and Gladys.
