Fannie Swier, 97, of Colton was welcomed into heaven on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Sanford Foundation Hospice Cottage.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Faith Community Church, Colton. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton.
Fannie was born February 2, 1922 to parents Albert and Grace (Gelderman) Meyerink. She attended school in Chester. She married John Swier August 31, 1939 and became a stepmom to his 7 children and together they added 3 more and were blessed with 65 years together. They farmed near Colton until moving into Colton in 1974. She moved to the Colton Assisted living in 2016.
Together they were always seen at the grandchildren’s activities. She was a trophy bowler, loved to play cards, watch game shows and do search-a-word puzzles.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Don (Glenna) Swier, Crooks, Mary Ann Franken (Mark Entenman), Sioux Falls, Darla (Arden) Stensgaard, Volga, step children, Katherine Immeker, Brandon, and Roy (Sandy) Swier, Tucson, Arizona, eight grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, grandsons, Michael Franken and Jimmy Stensgaard, son in law, Wayne Franken, 5 stepchildren, 9 step grandchildren, siblings, Marie Hoek, John Meyerink, Alida Swier and Ann Vander Plaats.
