Evelyn S. Abraham, age 95, of Garretson, formerly of Beresford, died on Sunday, August 12, 2018 with her family by her side, at the Palisade Healthcare Community in Garretson. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, August 15, 2018 with a Prayer Service and Time of Sharing beginning at 7:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson. Burial will be at 10:30 AM Thursday in the Brule Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Spink, South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Brule Creek Lutheran Church or the Bergen Lutheran Church.

Evelyn was born on September 3, 1922, to Anne and Simon Simonson at their home in rural Bristol, South Dakota. She attended Union Prairie District School 181 in Day County and graduated from Bristol High School in 1939. She married Russell Abraham on October 7, 1943. To this union three children were added, Alan, Karen, and Jeff. They farmed in the Spink and Beresford area before retiring into Beresford. In 2007, Evelyn moved to Garretson to be near her daughter.

Evelyn was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed time with their quilting group. After moving to Garretson, she joined the quilting group at Zion Lutheran Church where she made many friends. She also made quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Evelyn lived at Spirit Canyon Apartments and joined in games and cards with the other residents. These special people were very important to her. She enjoyed birthday parties and holiday celebrations with her family, and was also noted to be a serious player at the dice game!

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Karen (Steve) Bonte, Garretson; son, Jeff Abraham, Moore, OK; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Lisa (Tom) Parker with Jackson White, Sioux Falls, Mollie (Paul) Lems with Ellie, Emory and Claire, Sioux Falls, Abbey (Brian) Beck, Jefferson, SD, Travis (Hartlee) Abraham with Ashley and Shelby, Moore, OK, and Tyler (Jodi) Abraham with Karlee, Wyatt and Leah, Moore, OK, Amanda  Abraham (Dennis Varnes), Moore, OK; sisters-in-law, Delores Johnson, Sioux Falls, Wilda Abraham, Elk Point, and Alice Simonson, Webster. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; son, Alan; brothers, Oscar and Rudy; and sisters, Alice Bakken and Clara Crawford.
