Eunice Thalette (Berven) McGee was born January 28, 1921 to Seymour and Emma (Questad) Berven at home in rural Baltic. She attended country school to the 8 th grade and then graduated from Lyons High School in May 1939.  Eunice then went to Nettelton College in Sioux Falls and graduated with an accounting degree.  She then worked for the Co-op until her marriage to J. C. McGee November 27, 1943 at Central Baptist Church in Sioux Falls.  Together they farmed the land and raised livestock.  They raised their two children Ronald Lee and Deborah Diann on the farm.  In their spare time they attended to the vegetables and flower gardens.

Eunice was on the WWW Bowling Team and competed in the National Tournament in Las Vegas. After a shoulder injury, Eunice took up volksmarching at the age of 68.  Those walks covered most of the states.  Eunice walked as many miles as there are in the United States.  Eunice walked Crazy Horse, nine times.

After J.C.’s death, Eunice continued to manage the family farm with the help of hired hands and her son-in-law.  Red Farmall was her color of machinery.

Eunice was a woman in a man’s world as a farmer but loved the challenge of it.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Deborah (Tom) Langrehr, Colton; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tiffany (Chris) Wynia, Elizabeth, Codie, and MacKenzie, Sibley, Iowa; Jami (Lorin) Kruse, Jenna and Jayden, Baltic; Lars (Angela) Langrehr, Conner and Lauren Van Roekel, and Kennedy, Hartford; Joy (Ethan) Schumacher, Lee, Hartford; one sister, Lois Schwartz, Los Angeles, California and many relatives and friends.
