Ernest L. Huber, age 83, of McGrath, Minnesota, and Yuma, Arizona, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic. Interment will be approximately 2:30 PM Wednesday in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Armour, South Dakota. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Ernest was born at home on May 23, 1935, near Armour, South Dakota, to John and Lydia (Kirchhevel) Huber. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church near Armour and was later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. After his education he worked as a bus boy at the Carpenter in Sioux Falls until joining the Unites States Army. After his honorable discharge, he settled in Minnesota and worked construction until his retirement.

Ernest greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved gardening both at his home in Minnesota and in Yuma, Arizona, and visiting the casino near his home.

Ernest is survived by his sisters: Elsie Wagner, Sioux Falls, and Ella Riswold, Dell Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Reinhold, Vernie, Gladys Hickman, and Delbert; and his special friend, Peggy Simonson.

Elsie and Ella would like to thank Ernie’s nephew, Dwayne Hickman, for helping him so much in his later years.
