VIEW SERVICE FOLDER

Eric Mark Bjorneberg, 26 of Sioux Falls formerly of Garretson passed away unexpectedly July 24, 2018 of natural causes at his home.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, July 30, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson.  Memorial visitation will be from 2-4:00 PM Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Eric was born September 21, 1991 to Nancy (Willems) and Mark Bjorneberg of Garretson.  He was a good-natured, sweet, gentle soul from the start. Eric had an awesome sense of humor, fun-loving nature and love of music, cats and dogs (mostly cats), pro wrestling, Star Wars, Libertarian politics, and the Minnesota Vikings.

When Eric was 11, he became a big brother to Alice. Due partly to the difference in their ages, they never experienced the usual sibling rivalry. He was a loving big brother and she adored him.

Eric was baptized and confirmed at Palisade Lutheran Church in rural Rock County, MN.

He graduated from Garretson High School in 2010.  He attended South Dakota State University in Brookings for one year, where he earned more friends than credits. Many of those who met him during that time remained his friends and are among those who grieve him today.

Eric moved to Sioux Falls after leaving school and worked at several call centers, including Capital One and Sanford. He had just recently begun working at Wells Fargo at the time of his death.

Eric will be deeply missed by his mother, Nancy (John) Brandsma, Brandon; father, Mark (Lisa) Bjorneberg and sister, Alice, Garretson; significant other and best friend, Cyrena Kilmer, Sioux Falls; sister Jana Wilson, Watertown; stepbrother Joe Brandsma,  Bertha MN, stepsister, Cristy (Brandsma) Wolff, Eureka; grandparents Viola Bjorneberg, Tom and LaVonne Willems, all of Garretson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends (including his Capital One “Family”). He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Stanley Bjorneberg, and aunt, Cheryl McKenna.

Eric made the choice to become a cornea and tissue donor and will live on while helping hundreds of others with his gift.
