Donald James Moore passed away March 18, 2022 in York, South Carolina after a short battle with cancer. He was 63 years old. Don passed away in home hospice care surrounded by his close family friend Marie Blythe and her family, whom he had been friends with since he was a teenager.
Don was born April 21, 1958 in Duluth, MN to Herbert and Lillian (Hanson) Moore, the youngest of three brothers. He grew up in Hopewell Jct., NY and graduated from John Jay Senior High School in 1976, where he excelled in sports, playing varsity soccer, basketball, and baseball.
Following high school, he worked his way through college, earning a degree in business from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He worked in food warehousing for several regional grocery store chains, before eventually working in supply logistics for DynCorp in support of US military operations in the Middle East for most of the past 20 years.
Don enjoyed traveling, having traveled to Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, and several European countries. But mostly, he enjoyed spending time with family and close friends.
Don was preceding in death by his parents and older brother Charles.
He is survived by brother Robert (Humboldt, SD) and extended family.
A graveside service for family and close friends is scheduled for May 20, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Benton Lutheran Church, Crooks, SD.
