Delores Elaine Prestbo

Delores "Lolly" Elaine Prestbo, age 92, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center in Vancouver. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Interment will follow at the East Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Baltic Lutheran Church in Delores’s name.

Delores was born in Baltic South Dakota during a blizzard, on January 30th, 1932 and passed away on October 20th, 2024 in Vancouver Washington.

She had many fond memories of growing up in South Dakota in a large family, within a small community with many close friends.

She was very proud of her Norwegian Heritage and became the 4th generation of Norwegian Lutherans in the Dakotas, representative of the great exodus from Norway in the late 1800s.

Delores loved to dance and often spoke about her outings to the dance hall in Dell Rapids until wee hours in the morning, and having to get up early for church services the next day.

She was born to loving parents who were always there to support her. In 1960 she relocated to Vancouver Washington with her son Lyle Dean. Although she spent most of her life in Vancouver WA, she always called Baltic home and kept in close contact with family and friends. She enjoyed a long fulfilling career as a radiology technician and instructor at OHSU School of Dentistry, where she served dental students and patients for 34 years until her retirement in 1994.

Family was everything to her. She adored her grandchildren Eric and Makenzie and took on the role of great grandma (AKA GIGI) with all her heart.

Her infamous Christmas cookies were enjoyed by many! Delores never met a stranger and leaves behind many friends who loved her dearly. From her childhood friends and many family members in South Dakota and in the Pacific NW, her girlfriends from OHSU (including her dearest friend Dianna Howerton), dear neighbors (especially Jeff and Bev Borge and family) and her Friday night group who met for over 26 years. 

Delores is survived by her grandchildren Makenzie Prestbo of Bremerton WA, Eric Prestbo (Emily) of Bellingham WA and her great grandchildren Jack, Penny, Sofie and Sammie, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Palmer and Olga Prestbo, her siblings Lyle, Arlene, Donald and Orpha and her son Lyle Dean.
