David Allen Rentz, 79, of Wentworth passed away peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2018, with his family by his side at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Wentworth. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
David Allen was born February 28, 1939 at Wentworth to parents George and Alice (Abraham) Rentz. He grew up in the Wentworth area and attended school there. He then attended Southern State Teachers College in Springfield and received a mechanics degree. He worked as a mechanic for 43 years, retiring in 2003.
David married Jane Burgers March 21, 1960 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Wentworth. In 1962 they moved to Sioux Falls and moved to Wentworth in 2002. In 2016 they moved back to Sioux Falls.
David was a member of Duck’s Unlimited since 1963, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Jane, Wentworth; daughters, Audrey (Joe) James, Karen VanDenBerg, Dawn (Rick) Weiss, and Gail (Rick) Evans, all of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Sara Weiss, Chad (Amber) VanDenBerg, Joshua (Alyssa) James, Cory VanDenBerg, Jenna James, Alex (Allyson Crespo) Weiss, Emily (Brendan) Weiss, and Sydney (Jesse) Sybesma; great grandchildren, Blake James and Madelyn VanDenBerg; sisters, Helen (Dick) Lease and Georgia Rentz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
