Connie Sue Meyer

Connie Sue Meyer, age 71, of Humboldt passed away on Sunday August 15 ^th , 2021 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Friday August 20 ^th , 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church.

Connie was born on May 12 ^th , 1950 in Adrian, Minnesota to Richard and Betty (Rust) Mulder. She grew up outside of Rushmore, Minnesota and attended elementary school in Rushmore. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1969 and then went on to further her education at Pipestone Vocational College. Prior to settling in Humboldt, she lived in Rushmore, Lismore, and Adrian, Minnesota.

Connie met Doug Meyer, the love of her life at a dance at the VFW in Luverne, Minnesota. They were married on December 20 ^th , 1980 in Humboldt, South Dakota. Connie spent her life being a farmer’s wife, a mother to 5 children and a business owner with an in-home daycare for 23 years.  She loved her daycare kids like her own and loved watching them grow up. She loved singing and she sang at many weddings and funerals. She was a prominent member of the Humboldt Legion Auxiliary and held many positions throughout the years. She was also active with the Humboldt Threshing Bee, Farmers Union, American Legion and a faithful member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Humboldt.  Connie and Doug were part of a group that met for coffee on a daily basis, a habit that Connie continued after Doug’s passing on May 25 ^th , 2018.

Connie’s main purpose in life was her family, grandchildren, and friends. Connie was always available to lend a helping hand - watching kids, helping with housework or providing a listening ear.  No matter what Connie was doing, her zest for life and fun was contagious, which helped to make her the life of the gathering. Her smile, laugh, and her love for people will be greatly missed.  She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend.  Anyone that knew Connie was blessed by her presence and fortunate to have known her.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Mulder, Worthington; children: Bill (Kim) Henning, Hartford, Daryl (Audrey) Henning, Humboldt, Travis (Angie) Henning, Sioux Falls, Marsha (Brandon) Myers, Sioux Falls, and Margie (Jonathon Bagby) Meyer, Sioux Falls; 18 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; siblings: Bruce (Cathy) Mulder, Luverne, Coleen (Greg) Gruis, Rushmore, and Robin (Kevin) Post, Custer; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Mulder and her husband, Douglas Deane Meyer.
