Carol Ann Johnson, age 72, of Dell Rapids, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Memorial visitation will be from 3-5:00 PM Sunday, July 5, 2020, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids.
Carol was born to parents Phil and Ella (Moe) Aasen on August 3, 1947 in Renner. She grew up in rural Renner and graduated from Lyons high school in 1965. She then attended SDSU in Brookings for one year before marrying Bob on July 23, 1966 and starting a family in rural Crooks. They lived together there while raising their family until 1999 when they moved to Dell Rapids to live on the golf course.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and watching their activities. She was happiest when she was able to cheer her grandchildren on at their events and hand out her famous homemade chocolate chip cookies or a stick of gum to all their friends and teammates afterwards. She loved to play golf with Bob and her family and friends. They spent many of their summer days/nights at Rocky Run Golf Course.
Carol was always known for her bright smile, her infectious laugh, and her ability to find fun in every room she entered. She was strong in every way and retired from UPS just before her and Bob moved to Dell Rapids after 25 years of loading travel trailers and working as a package clerk. After moving to Dell Rapids she worked part time as a teller at Wells Fargo bank on main street where she loved to give everyone a sucker on their way out the door. After retirement Carol and Bob spent their winters in Texas where they made many new friends and memories together.
Carol died Tuesday, June 30, 2020. She is finally reunited with Bob and as much as we will miss her, we take comfort in knowing that they are now together again. We are thankful for their wonderful life together, and for our family and dear friends who have loved and supported us through the amazing life that God blessed her with.
Grateful for having shared Carol’s life are her daughter Teri (Tim) Eddy, Dell Rapids; her son Keith (Lisa) Johnson, rural Crooks; five grandchildren Julie (Mark) Garry, Karen Eddy and Brent Eddy; Tyler and Trey Johnson; 3 sisters Lee Ann (Paul) Smith, Ella Jean (Dan) Lambertz, and Andrea Haugen; sister-in-law Jeri Borash as well as many close friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob, her parents Phil & Ella Aasen, her brother Jerry Aasen, her mother and father-in-law Kenneth and Dorothy Johnson and brother-in-law Mauri Borash.
