Arden Edward Meinjohans

October 2, 1941 — April 11, 2022

Arden Edward Meinjohans, age 80, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, while resting in his chair.

A time of visitation with family present will take place Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson, SD.  Private family committal with Rev. Elizabeth Pagnotta officiating will be Friday morning at the Split Rock Lutheran Cemetery rural Brandon, SD.

Arden was born October 2, 1941, in Hudson South Dakota to the proud parents of Fred and Edna (Ericson) Meinjohans. Arden was the eldest of four children. He attended Tyler high school, where he graduated in 1959. After graduation Arden joined the Army and spent his time overseas in Germany. After discharge from the Army Arden returned to Minneapolis MN where he met his wife, Norma Halverson. The couple were married August 5 th , 1967, at Split Rock Lutheran Church rural Brandon, SD. Once married the happy couple moved to Sioux Falls, bought their home, and started a family.

He attended school to become a CPA, and held employment at various companies as an accountant, until retiring in 2004. His love for social interaction called him back into the workforce part time at local retail stores and Citibank call center until 2010.

Arden had a passion for many things, but in particular enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, and bird watching. As a father he enjoyed taking family trips and camping regularly. He enjoyed playing cards, watching movies, and caring for his wife Norma in her later years.

He is survived by his daughter, Jodi Meinjohans and her fiancé Brandon Fix; son, Brian Meinjohans; three grandkids, Emma Meinjohans, Benjamin Meinjohans, William Meinjohans; sister, Darla Meinjohans and several close friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Fred and Edna, his brothers, Garey, and Glenn, and his wife Norma in 2019.
