Albertha Van Der Vliet was born June 11, 1933, by Hull, IA to Henry and Hermina (Wissink) Hubers. When Albertha was in high school, she lost her mother.  Albertha met Stanley Van Der Vliet from Hull, IA and they were married on August 8, 1956.  Stanley got sick and farmed for different families.  They bought the coffee shop in Hull which they enjoyed. Stanley and Albertha had four children.  She took care of Stanley until the doctors at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls said it was too much for her.  He was in and out the Veterans Hospital often.  After a while he went to Terrace Manor and Albertha spent most of the time with him there.  She took some trips with Bernice Reurink which she truly enjoyed.  Stanley died of Multiple Sclerosis on January 25, 1996.  After that Alberta loved to have family and friends in for coffee.  She loved African Violets.

Albertha is survived by her children; son, Steven (Sandy) Van Der Vliet of Nooksack, WA; daughter, Beth (Steve) Nelson of Big Piney, WY; sons, Richard (Amy) Van Der Vliet of Sioux Falls, SD and Henry (Kim) Van Der Vliet of Cibolo, TX; grandchildren, Emily (Darrin) Van Weerdhuizen of Everson, WA, Brendon (Melinda) Van Der Vliet of Rio, WI, Luke (Brittney) Van Der Vliet of Everson, WA, Brigitte (Jack Ritter) Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID, Heather Nelson of Aurora, CO, Alayna Nelson of Denver, CO, Derek Nelson of Big Piney, WY, Cayla Van Der Vliet of Cibolo, TX, Jared Van Der Vliet of Cibolo, TX; great grandchildren, Aleks, Eli, Olivia, Madelyn, Shelby, Tayte and Finley; brother, Wayne Hubers of Oklahoma City, OK; Loretta and Larry Berens and family; grand-dogs, Gizmo and Cash; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hermina Hubers; husband, Stanley; granddaughter, Ciara Van Der Vliet; brothers, Alfred, Harvey, Harold, and Merlyn.

Our family would especially like to thank Emily for her loyal support and all the love she showed Grandma Albertha in her last days, when Em wasn't far from her side. Albertha’s family would like to thank Loretta, Larry, and Tom for their unwavering friendship through thick and thin with our mom and grandma.  We would also like to thank the staff at Colton Assisted Living, especially Michelle, for their loving care.  And to all those who are here today in person or in prayers or thoughts, thank you for supporting Albertha and her family.
