Marie F. Hoek, 88, of Colton died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Dells Area Health Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Christian Reformed Church in Colton. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.
Marie was born August 20, 1918 to parents Albert and Grace (Gelderman) Meyerink on the family farm near Humboldt, South Dakota. She attended country school near Chester. Marie married Marvin “Bud” Hoek August 31, 1938 at her parent’s home in Colton. They farmed near Buffalo Trading Post for 31 years before moving into Colton in 1970. After moving into Colton she did some babysitting and worked at various other jobs. Bud died February 21, 1992.
Marie was a member of Christian Reformed Church, Ladies Bible Hour and Colton Senior Citizens. She enjoyed fishing trips with John and Fannie and attending activities of her children and grandchildren. She entered the Colton Assisted Living Center in 1999.
Grateful for having shared her life are three sons and their wives, Neil and Jan Hoek, Earlham, Iowa; Marvin and Pat Hoek, Las Vegas, Nevada; Jerry and Linda Hoek, Colton; two daughters and their husbands, Verdona and Jim Kelly, Alvord, Iowa; Barb and Dan Wildermuth, Pipestone, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; two great- great-grandchildren; three sisters, Fannie Swier, Colton, Alida Swier, Sioux Falls; and Ann Vander Plaats, Colton.
Marie was preceded in death by a brother, John Meyerink; two infant brothers; and an infant sister.
