Doris L. Hansen

September 4, 1920 — January 30, 2008

Doris L. Hansen, 87, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Colton died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Luther Manor in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, February 2, 2008 at East Side Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. Burial will be in the Minnehaha Cemetery, Colton. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-6:00 pm Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.

Doris was born September 4, 1920 on the family farm near Colton to parents Ole and Julia Haugse. She grew up near Colton and attended the Grinde Country School and then graduated from Colton High School in 1938. After her graduation she moved to San Diego, California with her sister, Vivian and worked in the aircraft factory during World War II. She returned to South Dakota and married Howard Hansen in Sioux Falls. In Sioux Falls she worked for Woolworth Department Store for over 40 years. After her retirement she was a RSVP volunteer for the Sioux Falls School District for over 20 years. She moved to Luther Manor in 2004.

Doris was a member of the East Side Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing and watching sporting events of her family.

Grateful for having shared her life are a son, Doug Hansen, Kamiah, Idaho; a granddaughter, Cassie; a niece, Julianne Dipiazza and her husband, Kevin, Harrisburg; two nephews, Gary Gregg, Colton; Bill Gregg and his wife Sandy, Sioux Falls; a great niece, Kali Anderson; and two great nephews, Tyler Anderson and Karl Gregg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.
