Elizabeth Van Duyn, 89, of Sioux Falls formerly of Colton died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be from 1-2:00 pm Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton. Private family burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. No funeral service will be held.
Elizabeth was born November 22, 1918 near Sioux Center, Iowa to parents John and Jennie (Baker) Kramer, one of twelve children. She grew up in the Larchwood and Rowena area and attended school near there. After her education she worked for Elmer Swanson, helping raise his children.
Elizabeth married William Van Duyn January 15, 1940 at Rock Valley, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Colton. William died November 13, 1967. She lived in Colton until moving to Sioux Falls in 1989.
Grateful for having shared her life are two sons, Bill (Cheryl) Van Duyn, Colton; Phil Van Duyn, Akron, IA; four daughters, Phyllis Anderson and Judy Mathieu, both of Sioux Falls; Joan Jewell, Tea; Dorothy (Eldon) Fockler, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a brother, Martin Kramer, Sioux Falls; three sisters, Hody (Wally) Paulsen, Sioux Falls; Alice Park, Colman; Marge (John) Harmelink, Rock Valley, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband William in 1967, a son Jon, two grandsons, Derek and Daniel and seven brothers and sisters.
