Barbara Ann Hermanson

Barbara Ann Hermanson, 61, of Garretson died Thursday, June 25, 2009 due to injuries received in an automobile accident near Rowena.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, June 29, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Burial will be in the Norway Cemetery, rural Garretson. Visitation with the family present will be from 2-5:00 PM Sunday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Barbara Ann was born October 1, 1947 in Sioux Falls to parents Howard and Norma (Engebretson) Joyce. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1965.

Barbara married Gary Hermanson December 30, 1965 in Sioux Falls. After their marriage they lived west of Garretson, where she raised her family.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gary Hermanson, Garretson; her children and their families, David and Cheryl Hermanson, children, Nathan, Jordon, Meghan and Jared, Garretson; Nicole and Dan Van Beek, children, Naliya, Gable, Aston, Doon, Iowa; Andrew and Sara Hermanson, daughter Chloe, Garretson; her parents, Howard and Norma Joyce, Brandon; a sister Patricia and Clark Zahn, and sons, Theron and John, Seattle, Washington; a sister in law, Carol Ellefson, Leola; and her children, Rick and Peg Ellefson; Mike and Kim Ellefson; and Tim and Lisa Ellefson and their two daughters.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Joyce, a niece, Beth Zahn, her grandparents, Norm and Josephine Engebretson and Martin and Inez Joyce.
