Jewel Aker

October 30, 1948 — March 23, 2007

Jewel Aker of Slinger, WI, formerly of Colton, SD, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007 at Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI. He was 86 years old.

Jewel was born October 28, 1920 in Aurora, SD to Palmer and Selma (nee Wastrum) Aker. He married Clara Geddes on Oct. 30, 1948 in Mitchell, SD. Jewel worked as a sheet metal worker. Previously he owned a Blacksmith Shop in Colton. Jewel served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of the Post 206 American Legion.

He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn (Richard) Lexa and Sharon (Brian) Blair; a son, Ronald (Sandy) Aker; 6 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Maxine Steinfeldt, Shirley (Don) Van Wyne-Turgeon and Sally Aker; 2 brothers, James (Cookie) Aker and Ray (Adelyn) Aker. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clara, his son Rodney and two brothers Russell and Clayton.

Funeral services for Jewel will be held on Friday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church (403 E. 3rd St) Colton, SD with Rev. Steve Martens officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Colton from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Colton, SD.
