Linda Jean Olson

Linda J. Olson, 62, of Valley Springs died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Sanford Centennial Hospice Cottage surrounded by her family.

Memorial service will begin at 1:30 PM Friday, October 3, 2008 at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church, rural Valley Springs. Private burial will precede the service at the Beaver Valley Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Thursday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Linda was born July 19, 1946 in Sioux Falls to parents Jack and Isabella (Wagner) Olson. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1964. She then attended Augustana College and graduated with a teaching degree in 1968. After her education she taught school in Hartington, Nebraska for one year. Linda married Kenneth Olson June 21, 1969 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. After their marriage they lived near Valley Springs. She taught 4th and 5th grades at Valley Springs Elementary School for several years. She then worked as a receptionist for the Sioux Empire Fair for six years.

Linda was a member of the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church and the South Dakota Teachers Association.

Grateful for having shared her life are here husband, Kenny, Valley Springs; her children Heidi (Tim) Jorgenson, Brandon; Nancy (John) Olson-Engebreth, South St. Paul, MN; Mark Olson, Valley Springs, her grandsons, Jacob and Owen Jorgenson; a brother, Doug (Sharon) Olson, Avon, OH; a sister, Diane (Jerry) Thompson, Watertown; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded death by her parents.
