Louise M. Benson, 80, of Crooks died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Visitation with family present will be from 6:30 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Benton Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Benton Lutheran Cemetery.
Louise was born December 3, 1927 on the family farm near Valley Spring to parents Roy and Amanda (Thorvaldson) Thulin. She grew up in the Valley Springs area where she received her education. Louise married Harry Benson November 9, 1945 at First Lutheran Church in Valley Springs. They farmed near Crooks until moving into Crooks in 1984. Louise became a resident of Bethany Lutheran in the fall of 2006.
Louise was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Valley Springs and was an active member of the Benton Lutheran Church and ladies aid.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Harry, Crooks; a son and his wife, Kenneth and Linda Benson Crooks; a daughter and her husband, Bonnie and Ed Stafani, Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; Lori (Bob) Potratz, Michael (Lisa) Benson, Robert Stefani, and Emily (Ryan) Van Meekeren; eight great grandchildren; Annika, Taylor, Will, Coral, Chicago, Micah, Mercedes, and Bailey; a sister Doris Larson, Sioux Falls; a brother, Donald Thulin, Valley Springs; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Raymond Thulin.
