Lois Yvonne Tapken

Lois Yvonne Tapken, 82, of Sioux Falls died Friday, January 30, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Lois Yvonne was born July 8, 1926 in Sioux Falls to parents Joseph and Julia (Gilseth) Berg. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1944. After her education she worked at Bell Telephone Company for two years and then for Paramount Photography Studios for ten years. She married Gayland Tapken October 19, 1945 in Sioux Falls. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1961 where they owned and operated ABC Rentals. Gayland died June 30, 1976. After her husband’s death she returned to Sioux Falls.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Julie (Eric) Carpenter, Collinsville, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Brennan and Kaden Carpenter; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph in 1964, her son John, in 2008; her parents and a brother, Gerald Berg.
