Lavonne Brendsel

Lavonne Paulson Brendsel “Grandma Von”, age 79, of Garretson, joined her loving husband, Robert Brendsel, on September 26, 2009. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Lavonne was born to Peter and Myrtle Paulson on August 12, 1930 in North Dakota. Lavonne was the rock of her family and spent countless hours with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Grandma Von was a staple in her family, always giving support, encouragement, and the average lecture when needed. She was a loving soul and caring heart. Palisades Manor was a place she called home for 25 years, as she worked in the laundry and befriended all those who lived there. Lavonne lived a great and fulfilling life and touched everyone who knew her. “Grandma Von” gave all that she had each and every day and was a role-model to all of us.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert “Bob” Brendsel, her parents Peter and Myrtle Paulson, her brother Wally Paulson, son-in-law Richard McClelland, and many friends along the way. She is remembered lovingly by her family, daughters Connie Lenz (Dan), Debbie McClelland, Monica McGillivray (Chuck), and son Wesley Brendsel (Liz). Grateful for sharing her life are her many grandchildren, Chad Frewaldt, Shannon (Shaun) Frewaldt, Misty Ramsey, Levi McClelland, Angie McGillivray, Caroline & Robert Brendsel and Great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Morgan Frewaldt, Kelbi Koch, Kayden Rivero, Ryder and Jase McClelland, Hannah and Lucy Frewaldt. Her sister’s Phyllis Rogers, “Pepper” Jenson, and Norma Flannegan. We will all miss you dearly, and you are truly “The wind beneath our wings.”
