Gerald S. “Jerry” Becker, 76, of Brandon formerly of Dell Rapids died at home on Wednesday, February 25, 2009.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Celebration United Methodist Church in Brandon. Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2009 from 3-5:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Jerry was born July 14, 1932 to Leonard and Mae (Gill) Becker in Egan, South Dakota. He was raised and received his education in Egan, graduating from Egan High School in 1950. He began working for Western Electric before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1954. He returned to South Dakota and resumed work at Western Electric (AT&T) where he continued to work until his retirement in 1991. In 1955 Jerry married Clyde “Allene” Isaacs, they later divorced in 1981. On September 15, 1984 Jerry married Sandra Walberg.
Jerry will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, patience, love of golf and his good nature.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sandra, sons, Steven (Ilene), Albuquerque, NM; Tony (Diane), Brookings; Brian (Jackie), Fargo, ND; step children, Crystal Herrmann, Seattle, WA; Janelle Herrmann, Charles City, IA; Jeff (Heather) Walberg, Burnsville, MN; fourteen grandchildren; Heather Becker, Brian Becker, Scott Becker, Kayla Becker, Jamie Becker, Nicole Mulligan, Joshua Herrmann, Brittany Herrmann, Lacy Herrmann, Tiara (Matthew) Grady, Summer Herrmann, Dakota Walberg, Kianna Walberg, Justin Walberg; four great grandchildren, Annala, Carson, Kendal and Quinn; a brother, William Becker, Redwing, MN; sisters, Mary Ellen (Dale) Fields, Dell Rapids and Gertrude (Jim) Judge, St. Paul, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John “Jack”.
