Inez Tidemann

Inez Tidemann, 99, of Baltic died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the Stone Oak Care Center in San Antonio, TX.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, November 10, 2008 at Baltic Lutheran Church, Baltic. Visitation with family present will be from 3-5:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, Baltic.

Inez was born March 3, 1909 to parents Joseph and Mary (Aspaas) Aasen on the family farm near Baltic. She was baptized at the Old Nidaros Church and confirmed at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. She attended the Thompson Country School.
She lived on the farm until 1933 with the exception of 1910-1912 when the family homesteaded in Harding County. She was a choir member and Sunday school teacher at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. She was a charter member of the Willing Workers extension club and belonged to the Sons of Norway, Baltic Senior Citizens and the Baltic Lutheran Church.

Inez married Leonard Tidemann August 12, 1933 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. They farmed until 1961 when they moved into Baltic. She worked at the Post Office for 12 years and then was a homemaker and seamstress. In 1994 they moved to a site at the Sluiters Country Auction. Leonard died June 21, 1999. She and her daughter Joann moved to Sioux Falls in 2001. Joann died in February 2004 and Inez moved to Maryville, TN to live with her son Merlyn and his wife Barbara. She later moved to San Antonio, TX to be near her son.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son and his wife, Merlyn and Barbara Tidemann, San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren; Shari Penning, (Jerry Fowlds), Shane (Becky) Sluiter, Laurie Tidemann, Lisa Tidemann, Eric (Becca) Tidemann, and three great grandsons, Jackson and Matthew Sluiter and Brady Tidemann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Selmer, three sisters, Pearl Maxine, Mabel Nelson, and Pearl Helgeson.

Memorials may be directed to the Baltic Lutheran Building fund or the Pioneer Cemetery.
