Betty Jean Rans

Betty Jean Rans, 73, of Sioux Falls formerly of Colton died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at her home.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 pm Wednesday, Decmeber 5, 2007 at the funeral home.

Betty was born April 30, 1934 near Waterloo, Iowa. She grew up near Yale, South Dakota and attended Huron High School. Betty married Erwin Rans September 1, 1967 in Yankton, South Dakota. They lived in Sioux Falls before moving to Colton for fifteen years and then back to Sioux Falls. Betty owned an operated several restaurants and cafes in the Sioux Falls area over the years.

Betty was a former member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed spending time with her family and playing Bingo.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Erv, Sioux Falls; a son Kelvin Katz, Reno, NV; four daughters, Jean (Don) Nelson, New Prague, MN; Connie (Harold) Fiferlick, Sioux Falls; Nita Sundermeyer, Sioux Falls; Christine (Charles) Vallas, Elizabeth City, NC; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Jeremiah, a son in law, Bill Sundermeyer, a brother, Lawrence and two sisters, Lucille and Fern.
