Lavonne De Greef

January 21, 1939 — April 30, 2007

LaVonne De Greef, 68, of Renner died Monday, April 30, 2007 of injuries received in an automobile accident in Sioux Falls. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 4, 2007 at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday with a Wake Service at 7:00 PM at the church.

LaVonne Delores De Greef was born on January 21, 1939 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Ernest and Hilma (Trosvig) Sittig. She grew up on the family farm east of Sioux Falls and attended Whipple Country School and later graduated from Brandon High School in 1957.

On August 1, 1960, LaVonne married Robert De Greef in Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in Sioux Falls until moving to Renner in 1964. LaVonne worked at Renberg School in the lunch room, McKennan Hospital’s lab, First City Bank, The Bank of New York and Western Surety until retiring in 2001.

LaVonne was a current member of Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon and a past member of St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls. She was also a member of the Renner Volunteer Fire Department as an Emergency Medical Technician and helped start the Renner Volunteer Fire Department’s Auxiliary.

LaVonne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going on band trips with them. She also loved her garden, cooking, canning, and going on camping trips.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bob, Renner, her son, Jeff De Greef and his wife, Renee, Hopkins, Minnesota; daughters, Julie Carlson and her husband, Ron, Renner; June Reed and her husband, Ron, Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren: Janet Hamilton, Kayla Hamilton, Tara Carlson, Ryan Carlson, Nicholas Carlson, April Carlson, Katie Carlson and Jordan Carlson; two step grandchildren: Darren Borders and Kelly Reed; three great grandchildren: Collin Hamilton, Wyatt Stuntebeck and Mason Baum; her father, Ernest Sittig, Sioux Falls; and four sisters: Carol Harms, Sioux Falls; Rose Luhman, St. Cloud, Minnesota; Sherrie Perron, Cottage Grove, Minnesota and Donna Zeller, Spooner, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet in 1973; her mother and an infant brother.
