Elvera A. Schreurs

Elvera Schreurs, 99, of Dell Rapids passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at Dells Area Health Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am Monday, December 24, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Garretson. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm Sunday with a Scripture Service at 4:00 pm at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.

Elvera was born July 25, 1908 to parents August and Anna Welsand at Arco, Minnesota. She married Leo Schreurs February 18, 1930 at Larchwood, Iowa. They farmed near Larchwood until moving to a farm near Baltic in 1939. They moved to Milbank in 1965 then to Dell Rapids in 1987. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.She enjoyed baking, sewing, growing flowers and gardening.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Irvin and special friend, Jonnie Splan; Duane (Shirley); Dean (Stephanie), all of Baltic; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 6 great–great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Elvera was preceded in death by her husband, Leo in 1989, 3 brothers, Norman; Orville; and Herbert; a sister, Ada; 2 grandsons, an infant and Jeff; 2 granddaughters, Kim and Kathy; 2 great-great-grandsons, Matthew and Gorgie; and a daughter-in-law, Betty.
