Olga Madeline (Gunderson) Larson, 94, of Dell Rapids formerly of Baltic died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the Dells Area Health Center. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 10, 2007 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, with the family present from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Olga was born February 22, 1913 to parents, Ole and Magda (Hoplen) Gunderson at the family farm at rural Crooks. She was the 7th in her family of ten children. She lived there until her marriage to Grant Larson on November 23, 1945. They lived on their farm at rural Baltic for 57 years and then moved to their home in Dell Rapids in 2002 where she lived until her death.
Olga attended Trobak (Excelsior #41) Country School where she graduated with one of the highest scores in the county. She then attended Baltic High School where she graduated in 1931.
Olga was active in numerous community organizations and most importantly at her church, West Nidaros Lutheran, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. At an early age she took piano lessons and a little later organ lessons which began her nearly life-long vocation. She accompanied many high school groups, soloists and also taught piano lessons for many years. She became organist at West Nidaros Church in 1929 and accompanied numerous choir groups and soloists for over 50 years, especially her husband’s solos.
She is survived by her husband, Grant, Dell Rapids; three children, Wayne (Linda) Larson, Crooks; Merrill (Jane) Larson, Sioux Falls; Rebecca (Jim) Logue, Blue Grass, IA; nine grandchildren; Darin (Connie) Larson, Ryan (Shelly) Larson, Randy (Julie) Larson, Louisa (Jade) Kvale, Jason (Earlene) Larson, Erin (Nick) Bradley, Jed (Jessica) Logue, Amber (Steve) Logue, and Joseph Logue; six great grandchildren: J. T. and Nicholas Larson, Julienne and Jocelyn Logue; Madeline Larson and Grant Larson; a sister in law, Toby Gunderson, Sioux Falls; a cousin, Glenn Gunderson, Crooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and five brothers.
