Luella Nathalia Larson, 88 of Crooks died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Sanford Health. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Benton Lutheran Church rural Crooks. Visitation with the family present will be from 7-8:00 pm Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Benton Lutheran Cemetery.
Luella was born January 25, 1919 to parents Ned Albert and Anna Nathalia (Johnson) Hanson on the family farm near Crooks. She grew up in the Crooks area and attended Tyler Country School and later graduated from Lyons High School. Luella married Alfred “Barney” Larson March 15, 1944 at Benton Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Crooks. Barney died February 26, 2000. Luella continued to live on the farm until moving into Crooks in 2001.
Luella was baptized and confirmed at Benton Lutheran Church where she was a life long member. She was active in the church quilting and pie baking groups. She was member of the Crooks Senior Citizens and volunteered at the Crooks Library and spent many years volunteering at the Sioux Empire Fair.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Pamela Vreeland and her husband Garry, Columbus, Indiana; Doug Larson and his wife Sandy, Crooks; son in law, Norm Nytroe, Alexandria, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister, Leona King and her husband Earl, Spokane, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lu Ann Nytroe, a great grandson, Carter Larson, two brothers, Armond and Bob Hanson and two sisters, Lorraine Hanson and Lillian Moore.
