Meda May Alberts

October 4, 1914 — March 7, 2007

Meda Alberts, 92 of Colton died Wed. Mar. 7, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the United Methodist Church, Colton. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 pm Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.

Meda was born October 4, 1914 to parents Emil and Frances (Smith) Nelson a Nahon, South Dakota. She grew in the Gorton area and attended school there. She then attended Normal State College in Aberdeen. She then taught school at Putney, South Dakota. Meda married the love of her life Clarence Alberts on November 23, 1939 in Webster, South Dakota. They moved to San Francisco, California for five years before moving to Colton. In 1967 they moved to Spirt Lake, Iowa where they owned the Super American Station. They retired to Colton in 1981. Clarence died March 8, 1988.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Colton, the Eastern Star and was a worthy matron. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls in 2005.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son Don (Linda) Alberts, Huntley, Ill. a daughter, Kim Genader, Harvard, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence, her parents, a sister and two brothers. Memorial may be directed to the United Methodist Church Stain Glass Window Fund.
